4 Tips for a More Organized Home

Keeping your home organized isn’t always easy, particularly if you have kids. The busier your schedule is, and the more laundry and dishes you have, the more it can start to build up on a daily basis. The good news is that there are a few ways to make it easier by adopting the right strategies and habits. Here are some basic tips for keeping your home more organized.

Declutter Daily

Regardless of how many times you dust your home or mop the floors, it’s not going to look tidy if you have clutter everywhere. It’s essential that you declutter as much as possible to create a “clean slate.” Not only does it look much more visually appealing when you have fewer things occupying every surface, but it also makes things much easier to find. Whether in your bathroom, or your room, decluttering will help you feel a greater sense of peace in your living space, and ultimately much more practical.

Create a Cleaning Schedule

A cleaning schedule is a great way to help maintain an organized home. Set a day for each separate task that you need to do. Whether it’s vacuuming, or folding clothes, or taking out the trash, it helps to have a specific schedule. That way you can tackle small tasks daily as you go rather than take it all on at once. You could even create a cleaning chart on your fridge, to help you stay on top of what needs to be done each day.

Involve The Whole Family

Remember, it’s not only your job to keep your house clean. You need to get everyone involved to do their fair share. Even little ones can get involved by giving them age-appropriate responsibilities. Perhaps it can be putting away forks and knives from the dishwasher, or passing the vacuum. Cleaning can even be fun for kids if you learn how to present it in the right way. By teaching them how to stay clean in their younger years, they’ll carry on this valuable skill into their adult years.

Use Clever Storage Solutions

Clever storage solutions can be a lifesaver when it comes to keeping your home organized. The idea is to keep your items neatly organized and accessible while also maximizing space. This can be done by putting baskets under beds, or shelves on the wall. The more you can keep things off the main floor, the more space you’ll have, and the less cluttered your home will feel. You can have different storage areas for different items. For example, kids’ toys can go in one basket, while shoes can go in another.  By being mindful of putting things away in their proper place after finishing with them, you’ll find your home feels immediately cleaner.
